Job description


Leading global professional services consultancy seeks Legal Associate Director - IP to join their highly skilled global in-house legal team.

This is a newly created position to join a supportive and dynamic team, in a strategic role to be the IP legal lead on trademarks, patents and all IP related matters. It will be to engage at Partner level, across jurisdictions, in order to influence strategy and approach to protect and promote IP developed by the business, in addition to substantive legal advisory work and negotiations.

Offering an interesting and broad spread of work advising on a range of UK, EU and international IP matters, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secret, due diligence for IP transactions and M&A activities, cybersecurity, coordinating and protecting the trademark portfolio, refining the patent strategy across the business and member firms and analysing infringement risk. The role will also include horizon scanning for new developments and advising on all new potential compliance obligations, instructing on and working with external counsel and collaborating with colleagues in the global team and across the international offices.

You will have over 8 years' PQE and proven experience as an IP lawyer, with extensive expertise advising on complex IP matters and managing IP portfolios across a number of jurisdictions, from a top tier City law firm and/or in-house. In addition you will have experience in the intersection and considerations relevant to emerging technologies including AI.

This will suit a self-starter with gravitas, business acumen and who can improve processes across the business. A calm and proactive attitude is important and the ideal candidate will be versatile, efficient, credible, persuasive, with the ability to prioritise and adapt to changing circumstances in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
