Job summary

Freshfields is creating an Internal Auditor role to support the expansion of the internal audit programme across international operations and business support functions. You will work with senior stakeholders, gaining broad exposure to finance, IT, HR and legal services while strengthening controls and resilience.

Based in Manchester with some travel to London and abroad, the role requires strong analytical and communication skills and a collaborative approach to delivering practical

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of internal audit experience in professional services or corporate environment.
• Experience planning and executing risk-based audits, including tests and interviews.
• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CA or IIA, or equivalent internal audit credential.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with risk focus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across levels.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments independently.
• Experience working in a global/multi-jurisdictional environment.
• Experience with data analytics and AI in audit is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and delivering risk-based internal audits across the firm.
• Evaluate design and effectiveness of controls; identify risks and improvements.
• Conduct fieldwork: interviews, walkthroughs, data analysis and testing.
• Prepare clear audit reports and recommendations.
• Track implementation of management actions.
• Build relationships with stakeholders across functions and geographies.
• Support development of audit methodologies and tools.
• Support ad hoc reviews and advisory projects.
