Job summary

Freshfields is seeking a Compliance Analyst to join the Internal Audit team in Manchester, with occasional travel to London, focusing on financial compliance and monitoring using data and reporting to drive improvement.

You will conduct targeted reviews, data-driven testing and develop analytics, dashboards and reporting to identify risk and enhance compliance oversight across key financial processes.

Qualifications

• Experience in compliance, financial analysis, internal audit, finance assurance, or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with data analytics and Excel proficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Attention to detail, integrity and the ability to work independently across multiple priorities.
• Experience in a law firm or professional services partnership, ideally in a global/multi-jurisdictional environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver targeted compliance reviews and monitoring across financial compliance risks.
• Perform data analysis and exception testing, using analytics and automation to identify non-compliance.
• Conduct periodic user access reviews and support information security and data protection controls.
• Improve dashboards, exception reporting and management information with Finance, Data and reporting teams.
• Assess matter management compliance (Client Due Diligence, engagement letters, sanctions) and gifts/hospitality.
• Document findings, root causes and recommendations; track remediation actions.
• Build relationships with Finance, Legal, Financial Systems, Data and stakeholders to support audits.
