Job summary

Human Appeal, based at Cheadle, Manchester, invites applications for an Internal Audit Manager within the Performance and Accountability department. Qualifications

• Degree-educated in Finance, Accounting, Audit or Business Management.
• Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIA, CMIIA or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in Internal Audit.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in people management.
• Experience in NGO/internal audit remit with global focus desirable.
• Strong understanding of risk management, governance and internal control framework.
• Experience planning and delivering risk-based audit programmes.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and develop audit teams.
• Experience presenting audit findings to senior management and Board/Audit Committee.
• Knowledge of charity sector regulations, funding arrangements and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical, investigation and report-writing skills.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High integrity and professional judgement.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Internal Audit methodology, strategy and annual plan.
• Oversee Internal Audit activity UK-wide and at Field Office level.
• Determine audit scope and terms of reference; present findings and follow-up actions.
• Provide training and oversight to the Internal Audit team.
• Review risk identification and management; drive continual improvement.
• Act as ambassador for Internal Audit; promote risk-awareness culture.
• Advise on compliance matters and document reviews.
• Prepare and present audit reports; quarterly and annual Internal Audit reporting.
• Conduct and oversee investigations into serious incidents or irregularities.
• Maintain communication with Internal Audit stakeholders and external regulators.
• Support year-end accounts process within the Finance department.
• Represent Human Appeal at sector meetings; engage in sector standards.
