Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• Extensive experience in HVDC Control & Protection or large-scale power system commissioning.
• Proven track record of leading large, multi-cultural, geographically dispersed teams.
• Deep technical knowledge of HVDC technologies (LCC/VSC), control system architecture, SCADA, and Cyber-security.
• Experience in laboratory-based testing using RTDS.

Due to the growth of our HVDC business, we are launching a Global HVDC System Commissioning & Services Department within the HVDC Solution Line. This organization is designed to consolidate expertise and drive operational excellence through three core pillars:

• HVDC System Verification & Validation (V&V): Provides independent assurance that HVDC solutions meet rigorous technical, functional, and performance requirements prior to site deployment.
• System Integration at site and hot Commissioning: Provides system integration at site with end-to-end accountability from laboratory verification and integration through supplier facilities, site commissioning, and final customer acceptance.
• C&P Aftersales & Service Support: Dedicated to the C&P lifecycle, providing technical support and continuous improvement for our global fleet to ensure long-term reliability and customer satisfaction.

This new structure improves project delivery, accelerates problem resolution, standardizes best practices, reduces total cost of execution, and enhances the reliability of our installed fleet.

Job Description

Reporting to the HVDC Solution Line Leader, the Global HVDC System Commissioning & Services Leader will oversee this new department. You will be responsible for the strategic management of all commissioning and C&P service functions, ensuring our GSI organization has the tools, standardized processes, and technical governance to deliver the global HVDC portfolio safely and efficiently. A critical aspect of this role is fostering deep alignment between the central HVDC Solution Line, Service Solution Line, regional HVDC project teams, and central functions (Construction & Commissioning leader) to bridge existing gaps and ensure consistent, high-quality execution worldwide.

Core Responsibilities

• Global Leadership & Governance: Establish the framework and standards to ensure seamless system integration and consistent delivery across all projects.
• V&V Assurance: Provide independent oversight of system integration, verifying that solutions are ready for site deployment.
• Commissioning Execution: Lead end-to-end commissioning strategy, from laboratory-based integration through customer acceptance.
• Lifecycle Support: Drive the technical support strategy for our installed fleet, transforming field performance data into continuous improvements for engineering and NPI teams.
• Continuous Improvement: Standardize a global framework to capture lessons learned, reducing project costs and increasing operational efficiency.
• Talent & Capability Building: Define the long‑term organizational strategy, ensuring the right competencies and leadership pipeline are in place to support business growth.
• Technical Oversight: Serve as the functional escalation point for complex grid interaction challenges or unpredicted system behaviors.

Key Performance Indicators

• Quality & Safety: Maintain a Zero-Harm culture and ensure 100% integration of "Return of Experience" (REX) into global commissioning standards.
• Operational Excellence: Improve "First‑Time Pass" rates at project gates and reduce commissioning cycle times through process industrialization.
• Financial Impact: Execute functional budget management and Lean initiatives to eliminate waste in the "Engineering-to-Site" handover.
• Resource Optimization: Mobilize qualified resources effectively across a global portfolio.
• Customer Success: Increase system reliability, availability, and overall customer satisfaction through proactive service support.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in HVDC Control & Protection or large‑scale power system commissioning.
• Proven track record of leading large, multi‑cultural, and geographically dispersed teams.
• Deep technical knowledge of HVDC technologies (LCC/VSC), control system architecture (e.g., eLumina), SCADA, and Cyber‑security.
• Experience in laboratory‑based testing using Real Time Digital Simulators (RTDS).
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders in a matrix organization and manage functional budgets.
• Strong health and safety mindset with a commitment to international high‑voltage standards.
• Ability to travel globally to project sites and laboratory hubs.
