Job description

The Opportunity

Global Specialty is building a best-in-class global construction practice, creating a 5th major product line within Global Specialty. As the Global Head of Construction, you will report to the Global Head of Specialty and lead all product minor lines, setting the global P&L strategy to achieve growth and profitability goals. You will drive underwriting excellence by establishing and adhering to risk appetite, standards, and guidelines, and ensuring rating and pricing adequacy. This role offers a unique opportunity to identify and recommend new markets, products, services, tools, and marketing strategies to support our growth plans.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Direct and lead underwriting teams.
  2. Set and drive business strategy for Global Construction.
  3. Establish and manage the Global P&L, executing growth and profitability objectives.
  4. Ensure underwriting excellence by maintaining adherence to risk appetite, standards, and guidelines, and ensuring rating and pricing adequacy.
  5. Identify and recommend new markets, products, services, tools, and marketing strategies.
  6. Communicate regularly with various geographies to share best practices, strategic insights, and foster a community across minor lines.
  7. Develop and implement reinsurance strategies that support risk appetite and active portfolio management.
  8. Understand the Specialty business model, underwriting methodologies, and associated risks.
  9. Build strong relationships with global regional and functional leadership to align on strategy and execution.
  10. Collaborate with HR to develop tools and strategies for attracting and retaining top talent and building high-performing teams.
  11. Promote a culture of collaboration and inclusion.
  12. Maintain a reputation for claims excellence in the marketplace.
  13. Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, engaging stakeholders appropriately.
