Role Overview

This is a hands-on role. As a Global Freight Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring efficient operations and maintaining high service levels, listening to customer needs, and striving to exceed their expectations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead and develop the freight operations team, including recruitment, induction, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
2. Manage all freight transactions from start to finish.
3. Maintain effective relationships within the team and across the business.
4. Oversee ocean shipments, ensuring compliance with credit policies by monitoring credit ratings and outstanding account balances to prevent unpaid accounts.
5. Handle incoming inquiries, collect necessary information, and process bookings accurately and efficiently.
6. Demonstrate knowledge of Customs Regulations, Dangerous Goods, and Insurance rules, ensuring adherence and providing advice to customers as needed.
7. Alert Senior Management of pending claims, gather necessary information, and process claims promptly according to company procedures.
8. Maintain accurate documentation, records, and systems.
9. Ensure all functions are delivered with high quality and efficiency, meeting customer expectations and contractual obligations.
10. Align personal objectives with the company's strategic goals.

Key Requirements

1. At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
2. Strong knowledge of the import and export market.
3. Extensive experience with customs procedures and documentation.
4. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
5. Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
6. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
7. Broad experience in ocean, air, and freight forwarding.
8. Experience managing a small team.
