  • Ensure alignment of recruitment and development practices across markets, accommodating local cultural and regulatory nuances.

Programme Management & Community Leadership

  • Develop and maintain global toolkits, frameworks, and best practice resources that enable successful early careers programmes.
  • Manage and foster the Global Early Careers Community to promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and programme consistency across regions, including hosting bi-monthly global community calls.
  • Create and uphold global governance standards, policies and processes to ensure consistency and quality across all programmes.

Budget, Data & Insights

  • Manage the global recruitment budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial accountability aligned with strategic goals.
  • Lead the creation and evolution of recruitment and development dashboards—both by business unit and globally—to deliver actionable insights and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Produce regular reports to measure programme impact, highlight successes, and identify areas for improvement.

Talent Development & Employer Engagement

  • Collaborate with Learning & Development teams to embed early careers pathways into wider talent development strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with universities, training providers, and external partners to strengthen talent pipelines and enhance Howden’s employer brand.

Inclusion & Innovation

  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion through equitable recruitment practices and development opportunities for early talent.
  • Stay informed on emerging market trends, technologies, and best practices in campus recruitment and early talent development.
  • Propose and pilot innovative approaches to early careers recruitment and development where appropriate

Risk Management.

  • Ensure compliance with local employment regulations and internal policies, while proactively managing risks associated with programme delivery and candidate experience.

What are we looking for?

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Influence Strong relationship-building and consulting skills to guide senior leaders, HR partners, and global teams with credibility and impact.
  • Data & Insights-Driven Decision Making Proficiency in using KPIs, dashboards, and recruitment data to monitor success, report impact, and inform operational improvements.
  • Budget Management & Governance Experience managing recruitment budgets, optimising resources, and supporting global governance structures that drive consistency and efficiency.
  • Cross-Cultural Communication & Global Collaboration Skilled at navigating global complexity—balancing alignment with local nuances and fostering collaborative relationships across diverse markets.

About Us

Howden began in 1994, as just three people and a dog. Now there are 17,000 of us, and we're a leading global insurance group, managing $38bn of premiums for our clients.

Our largest shareholder group is us – the people who work in the business – supported by three long-term, minority growth-equity partners who share our vision to build a business to last, one that will never be sold.

The owner's mindset is something that's embedded in our culture; our people readily take ownership of their decisions, their actions, and their outputs. They’re invested in every sense. And we all know that by working together to drive the business forward, everyone will benefit from the extraordinary results we can achieve.
