Job summary

Monex invites applications for a Data Protection Officer based in Manchester. You’ll provide independent data protection oversight across international operations, owning DPIAs, data inventories and data breach governance while ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

The role requires deep knowledge of UK GDPR and EU GDPR, with the ability to liaise with supervisory authorities and embed privacy by design within programmes across product, IT and procurement.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on experience in data protection and privacy governance in regulated environments.
• Deep knowledge of UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and related privacy laws.
• Proven ability to implement DPIAs, ROPAs, LIAs and data transfer assessments.

Responsibilities

• Act as the appointed DPO with independence and direct access to senior management.
• Advise on UK/EU privacy laws and cross-border data transfer rules across jurisdictions.
• Own and improve global data protection governance framework and records.
• Lead and review DPIAs, privacy impact assessments, and transfer risk assessments.
• Maintain data inventories, data-flow maps and retention references.
• Oversee data breach governance and regulatory notification requirements.
• Manage data subject rights processes and coordinate with regional teams.
