Job summary

William Russell Limited is seeking an experienced International Compliance Manager to join our Lightwater, Surrey team. The role focuses on managing regulatory risk, strengthening the compliance framework, and translating complex requirements into practical, commercially viable solutions.

The position involves monitoring UK and international regulatory developments, advising on compliance, and building a culture of responsible governance across the organisation.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years’ experience in compliance risk management, including operating at Compliance Manager level.
• Strong knowledge of insurance regulation, AML, GDPR, corporate governance and compliance assurance.
• Experience reviewing contracts and other legal documents with suppliers and insurers.
• Excellent communication, influencing and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to engage at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and continually improve the Compliance Risk Management Framework.
• Monitor regulatory developments across UK and international markets and translate into actions.
• Advise the business on compliance, Consumer Duty, data protection, contracts and governance.
• Identify, assess and help mitigate regulatory risks; report to senior leaders and the Board.
• Review business processes, customer information, marketing materials and legal documents from a compliance perspective.
• Develop policies, deliver training and foster a culture of compliance across the organisation.
• Build relationships with international insurance partners, external law firms and advisers.
