Job description

About

The Rolex SailGP Championship is the most exciting racing on water, where anything can happen in short, adrenaline‑fueled battles between national teams at iconic stadium destinations worldwide. Top athletes fly identical high‑tech F50 catamarans faster than the wind, at speeds exceeding 100 km/h. Founded in 2018, SailGP is one of the world’s fastest‑growing sports and entertainment properties, now in its sixth season.

SailGP also races for a better future, championing a world powered by nature. Underpinning the organisation’s purpose‑driven agenda is a diversification of the league, with the goal of immediately progressing gender equity and inclusivity.

SailGP is a global organisation with defined values that shape the culture of its team – Deliver Quality and Consistency; Evolve with Focus; Make it Count; Stand Together and Strike a Balance.

Summary

The Global Communications Manager supports delivery of the SailGP’s media and communications activity around the world – spanning events, partnerships, B2B/ thought leadership, internal communications and reporting workstreams. This is a hands‑on, delivery‑focused role for an organised and versatile communicator who can move comfortably between projects and workstreams, working closely with a variety of teams across the business.

Reporting to the Global Director of Communications & Impact, this is a standout opportunity to build broad communications experience at a fast‑growing global sports league, with exposure to senior stakeholders, live events, global partners and cross‑functional projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide regional and event communications and media support for SailGP events, including proactive media relations and press office duties, working alongside the wider global communications team.
  • Help develop and distribute global announcements and supporting materials, working closely with the wider global communications department and regional teams.
  • Lead B2B and thought leadership communications, including conference and award entries, industry announcements and event briefings and ownership of internal thought leadership events.
  • Provide day‑to‑day communications support for SailGP partners, helping develop and deliver partner‑facing communications materials and content.
  • Liaise with communications leads across SailGP's national teams to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated media activity.
  • Lead on internal communications, helping maintain consistent, engaging messaging across the business.
  • Prepare briefs, key messaging documents, press releases, talking points and other communications materials, including athlete and spokesperson briefing support.
  • Act as the dedicated link into SailGP’s impact team, including owning delivery of the global impact report, ISO 20121 communications requirements and all relevant external messaging.
  • Own and maintain core team tools and systems (e.g. Meltwater, Monday.com), keeping the department’s ways of working organised and efficient.
  • Support insights, measurement and reporting, helping track effectiveness of campaigns and distribution.
  • Act as a key point of contact for reactive and crisis communications, supporting the global director to protect SailGP's reputation across events and markets.
  • Travel to select events, working alongside communications team members on‑site as required, and at SailGP’s remote broadcasting facilities in London, UK.
What We're Looking For
  • Relevant experience in communications and PR, ideally spanning B2B and purpose‑led communications in a similar organisation (sport, entertainment).
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and narrative.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • A proactive, detail‑oriented self‑starter.
  • Comfortable owning delivery as well as supporting senior team members.
  • Experience managing websites, intranets or CMS platforms favourable.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast‑paced, multi‑stakeholder environment.
  • Genuine interest in sport, sustainability and/or purpose‑led business strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of sailing or other racing properties favourable but not required.
Key Expectations
  • Champion an inclusive environment where diversity is valued.
  • Advocate and promote SailGP Values and contribute to a positive culture.
  • Operate with a financially responsible mindset and strive for a commercial sustainability of SailGP.
  • Consider how each team action contributes to Better Sport, Better Planet.
