The Role

The Global Chief Underwriting and Claims Officer, Protection, is a key leader of Pacific Life Re’s Protection business globally. You will oversee the performance of Underwriting and Claims teams worldwide and participate in the Global Protection Executive Committee (GPEC) to shape the overall strategy.

In this role, you will ensure that each market’s VP of Underwriting and Claims reports directly to the local protection lead, and you will work closely with these VPs to maintain high standards and balance decision-making with organizational goals. You will promote best practices and set a global vision for underwriting and claims, aligning with company strategies and technological advancements.

You will lead initiatives in digital transformation, predictive underwriting, and data analytics, collaborating with strategic teams and third-party providers like UnderwriteMe. Your leadership will be crucial in developing and executing the global protection strategy in coordination with the GPEC and the broader leadership team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing strategic leadership for underwriting and claims functions globally.
• Setting and communicating policies and strategies for new business and claims management.
• Ensuring strong governance, risk management, and a culture of continuous improvement.
• Fostering collaboration across technical teams such as Pricing and Medical Analytics.
• Representing Pacific Life Re’s underwriting and claims expertise in the industry.

Qualifications & Expertise:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in life insurance underwriting and claims, with multi-market knowledge.
• Strong influencing, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Proven track record in strategic change management and client relationship building.
• Deep understanding of risk frameworks and controls.
