Job summary

The SKA Observatory (SKAO) is seeking a Head of Digital, Software and Computing Operations to lead the computing, software, data-platform, network and digital services that enable the telescope and science data products across the international footprint.

You will oversee a federated, multinational team of about 130 staff, shape the operating model, architecture standards and security posture, and drive lifecycle ownership from construction to steady-state operations.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in a complex software/compute environment.
• Experience guiding large, multidisciplinary teams across geographies.
• Proven ability to set strategy, roadmaps and governance for digital platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define the strategy, operating model and roadmap for computing, software, data platforms and digital operations.
• Lead transition from construction/commissioning to sustainable operational services.
• Establish architecture governance, standards and design authority across SKAO services.
• Ensure telescope software and infrastructure are reliable, secure and maintainable.
• Oversee platform engineering, DevSecOps, release governance and observability.
