About the role

Global Procurement contributes significantly to Diageo's business, productivity, and growth goals. The Digital & Technology category aims to create value to improve operating margins and competitive advantage through sourcing, negotiation, optimization, and supplier partnerships, balancing efficiencies and effectiveness of investments.

This category is complex, with diverse stakeholder needs, significant external spend, and key relationships at an executive level. The role's primary responsibility is to ensure the commercial success of spend in this category by managing vendor relationships effectively. The role involves leading sourcing decisions, maximizing value and ROI, and minimizing risks from external spend, while ensuring quality and performance.

The Digital & Technology category is undergoing transformation, becoming more strategic and integrated into planning and decision-making processes. Due to the complexity and associated risks, this is the most challenging procurement category.

The role acts as the interface between business users, senior stakeholders, and the Procurement community, responsible for developing and leading procurement strategies for Digital and Technology across various business streams through effective business partnering and collaboration.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Applying strategic procurement practices to create category strategies that deliver value.
2. Driving end-to-end execution of these strategies, ensuring alignment across teams.
3. Serving as a subject-matter expert, leveraging supply market insights, and engaging with stakeholders for value-adding procurement.

Responsibilities

Leadership

• Build, lead, and elevate procurement's impact within the Digital & Technology function. Inspire and develop team members and coach individuals for growth.

Category Strategy

• Develop strong business partnerships to understand needs and advise on value creation.
• Create and evolve comprehensive category strategies based on market analysis and business requirements.
• Enhance capabilities through benchmarking, cost modeling, and analytics to improve strategies.
• Ensure the successful end-to-end implementation of strategies across regions and departments.

Sourcing

• Lead global sourcing activities and negotiate contracts aligned with category strategies.

Risk Management

• Identify and mitigate strategic, sourcing, and supply risks, engaging relevant stakeholders.

Supplier Relationship Management

• Establish strong relationships with suppliers to ensure performance, risk mitigation, and opportunities for innovation.

Experience, Skills & Capabilities Required

• Extensive experience in Procurement, Finance, FMCG Commercial, or related roles.
• Proven ability to lead projects, develop strategies, and negotiate with suppliers.
• Strong analytical, financial, and commercial acumen, especially related to IT and technology.

Skills

• Deep understanding of IT sourcing, contracting, and digital solutions like automation and AI.
