The Role

As a Global Category Manager – Base Film, you will lead the procurement strategy for base film packaging, managing a £44M spend. This role requires strategic vision, strong supplier management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple business functions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and execute a 2-3 year sourcing strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders (R&D, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Engineering).
3. Manage supplier relationships to drive cost savings, innovation, and sustainability initiatives.
4. Lead global procurement processes to ensure efficiency, compliance, and risk mitigation.
5. Oversee supplier evaluations and negotiate global agreements in collaboration with regional procurement teams.
6. Identify and implement cost-modelling strategies, improving pricing structures and supplier performance.
7. Develop a sustainability roadmap aligned with corporate environmental goals, including recyclable and carbon-neutral packaging solutions.
8. Monitor commodity markets and define procurement strategies accordingly.
9. Ensure supply continuity by anticipating market trends and implementing risk-mitigation plans.

About You

1. Experience in direct procurement within FMCG.
2. Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
3. Ability to work in a complex, multicultural environment and manage ambiguity.
4. Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.
5. High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
6. Fluent in English (additional language skills beneficial).
