We're seeking a dynamic Global Category Leader for our Capital Equipment & Equipment Maintenance (GCL CAPEX) Category. This key role involves spearheading initiatives, driving excellence, owning category strategy, overseeing significant expenditure, and engaging with suppliers and stakeholders globally. Expertise in category management is essential to deliver innovative solutions aligned with our operational and manufacturing goals.

This position offers the opportunity to lead sourcing projects end-to-end, optimize demand management, and champion supplier performance and innovation. You will define specifications, improve vendor relationships, and ensure the strategic plans are executed flawlessly. Reporting to the Global Category Director, you will be part of a dynamic organization that values care, collaboration, and courage.

What will you be doing?

1. Develop and own category strategies aligned with business objectives, securing stakeholder approval, and ensuring clear communication.
2. Achieve cost efficiencies by meeting CAPEX category savings targets, analyzing supplier, market, and internal data.
3. Identify and mitigate risks by addressing supplier performance issues and maintaining compliance with procurement policies.
4. Lead projects based on the CAPEX strategy, contributing to the Annual Procurement Category Plan.
5. Manage supplier relationships through segmentation, critical metrics, contract negotiations, and governance activities such as Executive and Quarterly Business Reviews.
6. Drive innovation by collaborating with strategic suppliers to advance Smith+Nephew's innovation agenda.
7. Supervise a small team, ensuring alignment with category strategy and maintaining stakeholder communication.

What will you need to be successful?

Successful candidates will have a strong procurement background with extensive experience leading global category strategies, especially in Capital Equipment & Equipment Maintenance. Knowledge of MRO, Facilities, and Real Estate categories is advantageous. A professional qualification like CIPS or equivalent is highly preferred.

Key success factors include developing strategic supplier relationships, driving cost efficiencies, leading procurement initiatives, and collaborating effectively with stakeholders across the organization.
