Our Corporate & Investment Banking division is seeking a Senior Global Banker with 15+ years of experience working with large corporate/institutional clients in the European Commercial Real Estate sector.

The role requires demonstrating strong client relationships at the CFO level. The main focus will be to implement the Real Estate plan in Europe, onboard and establish new client relationships across different geographies (UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy…), drive origination of new business opportunities, and meet bank profitability targets.

Previous experience in cross-selling products (DCM, cash management, risk management solutions...) and structured lending solutions will be highly valued.

About the job:

The Global Relationship Banker is responsible for business development and relationship management, focusing on originating new business and cross-selling based on BBVA’s product capabilities, global network, and footprint.

This role involves working closely with the Risk Management Group and product partners from Structured Finance, Corporate & Syndicated Lending, Advisory, Global Markets, and Transactional Banking to facilitate client relationship management and cross-selling.

  1. Collaborate with the Industry Head of Infrastructure & Construction to define strategy, business plan, and budget for the Real Estate sector in Europe.
  2. Build a client portfolio from scratch within the sector in the UK and Continental Europe, focusing on onboarding clients and undertaking all required steps.
  3. Manage the client portfolio, providing specialized client coverage and maintaining close interactions at management levels, acting as a link between BBVA and the client.
  4. Generate recurring income and proactively originate new business opportunities with CIB product units, understanding clients’ investment needs and strategic decisions.
  5. Provide comprehensive market and financial advisory services, delivering tailored investment banking ideas and increasing revenues through transactions and cross-selling.
  6. Monitor clients’ activity and profitability using internal tools and data sources.
  7. Work with Risk teams and Bank committees to manage transactions, extend credit lines, and maintain BBVA’s financial exposure and limits, presenting proposals to the Risk unit.
  8. Oversee deal execution, assisting CIB units in communication and problem-solving, and collaborating on transaction negotiations and legal documentation.
  9. Represent BBVA in industry forums and high-level client engagements, positioning the bank as a trusted advisor.
  10. Lead and mentor junior team members, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
