The Trust expects all staff to reuse and recycle more, to use energy and water efficiently, to walk or cycle to work if you can, and to have a focus on sustainability in the workplace.

The postholder will be part of the senior clinical team with a priority on the delivery of the Glaucoma and anterior segment service. In taking responsibility for your own training and development; the Trust will offer you opportunities to further your knowledge and skills and you will be assigned an Educational Supervisor. You will work in accordance with the GMC Good Medical Guide and Trust policies and engage in revalidation. Applicants should be near to, or have completed their specialty training in Ophthalmology and fulfill all the competencies of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Specialty Training Curriculum in this respect.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to participate in the diagnosis, management and follow-up of Glaucoma patients including those with complex anterior segment diseases, but will also provide General Ophthalmology services and to undertake surgery on such cases both under supervision and independently. The postholder will be encouraged to develop their clinical skills and progress in the post, taking on an increasingly complex caseload. Whilst service delivery is important, contributions to the wider Trust as a medical leader in fields such as research, audit, outcomes, management and teaching will be expected and supported by the department and QVH.

The primary objective of the fellowship is to provide the fellow with exposure to and hands on training with the most advanced and complex glaucoma and anterior segment surgical problems. The fellow is expected to be available to participate in these cases as well.
