Glass House Manager – Essex- Competitive Salary + Accommodation

The Job:
An established commercial nursery is seeking a Glass House Manager to lead all aspects of glasshouse crop production across several nursery sites. This is a key operational role with responsibility for producing top-quality plants while ensuring efficiency, hygiene, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing plant production across glasshouse facilities
  • Working closely with commercial teams to ensure timely procurement of materials
  • Planning crop schedules, forecasts, and trial activity
  • Maintaining control of pest, disease, and weed management programmes
  • Ensuring full compliance with industry standards (e.g., LEAF, Red Tractor)
  • Supervising and supporting crop production staff, including holiday and performance management
  • Overseeing equipment use and site cleanliness across working areas
  • Providing regular operational updates and end-of-season reporting
  • Supporting internal training and sharing best practices in glasshouse operations
