Job summary

A leading glass manufacturer in the UK is seeking a Glass Cutter to join their team in Gateshead. The successful candidate will be responsible for cutting, shaping, and processing glass in a busy warehouse environment. Key responsibilities include crane work, loading/unloading glass, and ensuring health & safety compliance. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and teamwork skills. Responsibilities

  • Crane work, using appropriate attachments and processes.
  • Loading/unloading of glass onto vehicles and stillages.
  • Cutting/breaking out glass on automatic cutting tables.
  • Diagnosing and rectifying minor breakdowns on cutting tables.
  • Hand cutting and shaping sheet and laminated glass.
  • Manual handling of glass and completing relevant paperwork.
  • Undertaking monthly stock take activities.
  • Commitment to Health & Safety systems and procedures.

Job description

We are looking for a Glass Cutter to work as part of a team responsible for cutting, shaping and processing glass in a busy warehouse environment. Working hours are 39 hours per week, from 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday. The main responsibilities include:

Responsibilities
  • Crane work, using appropriate attachments/tables and processes.
  • Loading/un-loading of glass onto vehicles and stillages
  • Cutting/breaking out glass on automatic cutting tables.
  • Diagnosing and rectifying minor breakdowns on cutting tables
  • Hand cutting and shaping sheet and laminated glass.
  • Manual handling of glass, completing all relevant paperwork
  • Undertaking monthly stock take activities
  • Any other duties deemed necessary to help production in the factor
  • Commitment to Health & Safety systems and procedures
Qualifications and Skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good time keeping
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Glass manufacturing experience preferable but not essential
