An exciting opportunity has become available to join Boeing Defence UK as an Engineering Lead based at RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced, technically diverse, engineer with great inter-personal skills to join and lead a team of simulation and infrastructure support engineers who oversee the on-site operation, update and maintenance of a complex suite of training simulation applications, equipment, infrastructure and services for the RAF’s Gladiator programme.
This is a fast paced, customer focussed role that supports the RAF in the delivery of operationally important team and collective training exercises that join geographically distributed air and ground simulation equipment together in a single, consistent, synthetic training environment. The role is based, on-site, at RAF Waddington where virtual working will not be possible. The role, with it’s focus on leadership and the provision of strategic direction to the subordinate engineering teams will require up to 25% travel both nationally and internationally.
Your responsibilities will be:
The Engineering Lead will work closely with the Chief Programme Engineer and Deputy Chief Programme Engineer to maintain the overall quality, safety and integrity of the system including the management of integration activities, the technical planning of new capabilities and the tasking of technical team members as agreed with the Service Delivery Manager.
Crucially this is a “forward-looking” position to ensure technical pre-planning of future training events and the deconfliction of integration activities involving modifications and changes to the core simulation system. The person
To be successful, you will have good collective training domain knowledge and experience of contemporary simulation and synthetic environment technologies, system engineering principles and simulation architectures and methodologies (including HLA and DIS)
You will be a passionate engineer with great integration skills (personal and technical) with a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering or scientific field, as well as:
