Job summary

RS is seeking a GL Accountant for a 12-month fixed-term, hybrid role based in Corby. You will manage costs and revenue in SAP, ensure accurate accruals and prepayments, and support month-end close and group reporting. You will build relationships with Finance Business Partners to align actuals, forecasts and budgets.

You will also drive best-practice finance processes across UK & Europe, liaise with auditors, and provide timely information for the Group Reporting Pack via OneStream.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant to AAT level or ACCA/CIMA finalist.
• Experience with SAP FICO systems.
• Excellent communicator with strong stakeholder relationships in a matrix structure.

Responsibilities

• Ensure monthly sales, costs, accruals and prepayments are accurate and justified.
• Produce monthly reports for business users showing actuals, variances and forecasts.
• Liaise with Finance Business Partners on actuals, forecast and budget costs.
• Track actual labour costs to understand variances and inform forecasts and budgets.
• Adhere to month-end deadlines to produce balance sheet analysis.
• Balance sheet reconciliations and group reporting pack submissions via OneStream.
• Support development of standardised finance processes across UK & Europe.
• Coordinate with external and internal auditors to provide required documentation.

The Opportunity

The GL Accountant is responsible for accounting for the costs and revenue in a market or function within the SAP system. You will be required to ensure that costs are accurate and that accruals and prepayments are adequate and justified. You will build strong relationships with Finance Business Partners to ensure that information is shared both ways relating to actuals, forecast and budget. You will be required to work to tight month end deadlines and ensure that information provided is timely and accurate. You will be responsible for the uploading and submission of the Group Reporting Pack via One Stream for designated area. As a part of the GL Accounting team, you will work on development of best practice finance processes to standardise across the UK and EMEA.

The GL Accounting team’s primary responsibilities include month end Group reporting, completing quality balance sheet reconciliations to support Group in maintaining rigorous financial controls and resolving all queries raised by external audit at both half year and full year.

What You Will Be Doing

• Ensure monthly sales and costs are accurate and complete and that accruals and prepayments have the adequate justification and accuracy.
• Produce monthly reports for business users in order that actual sales, costs and variances to forecast are understood.
• Liaise with Finance Business Partners to ensure that appropriate information is shared relating to actual, forecast and budget costs.
• Track actual labour costs in order to understand variances and input into the forecast and budget processes.
• Adhere to month end deadlines to produce balance sheet analysis and cost information.
• Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Participate in the development of best practice finance processes in order to standardise across the UK & Europe.
• Liaise with External and Internal Auditors to provide relevant documentation as and when required.
• Provide resource to support other parts of the Business as and when required.
