Job summary

Assystem UK is hiring a GIS professional to support the HS2 environmental programme. You will work on high-quality mapping and analysis of environmental and ecological data, contributing to decision-making across a major infrastructure project.

You will collaborate with ecologists and other disciplines to deliver GIS outputs for reports, planning and project documentation, while developing your technical skills in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Experience using GIS software and producing professional maps.
• Experience with spatial analysis and data management.
• Ability to visualise complex environmental datasets clearly.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills.
• Interest in applying GIS to environmental or ecological projects.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality environmental and ecological mapping using GIS.
• Manage and interpret spatial and environmental datasets.
• Map habitats, ecological features, protected species, and constraints.
• Support ecological assessments, EIA, HRA and Biodiversity Net Gain activities.
• Use spatial analysis to identify constraints, opportunities and potential impacts.
• Maintain GIS datasets and outputs to meet project requirements.
• Help develop GIS processes, templates and standards.
• Collaborate with ecologists and environmental disciplines to provide spatial data.
• Prepare maps and GIS outputs for technical reports and planning documents.
• Support site teams and stakeholders with GIS information.
