Job summary

Talent is seeking a GIS Developer to lead data migration and build modern web GIS applications using ArcGIS Experience Builder within an Agile team based in Reading. You will design, implement and test spatial ETL pipelines with FME Workbench and Python, delivering robust, scalable solutions integrated via Azure DevOps CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Experience leading geospatial data migration projects (schema mapping, data cleansing, validation).
• Proficient in Python for spatial analysis and automation.
• Ability to design and implement robust geospatial ETL pipelines.
• Familiar with ArcGIS Experience Builder custom widgets and themes.
• Hands-on experience with SQL databases supporting geospatial data.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain web mapping applications and spatial dashboards.

• Participate in Scrum ceremonies and PI planning within SAFe/agile delivery.

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced GIS Developer to play a key role in delivering high-priority geospatial data migration and modern web GIS applications. Working within an Agile delivery team, you will design, build, and support customer- and internal-facing spatial systems using ArcGIS Experience Builder, write robust spatial ETL pipelines with FME Workbench and Python, and deliver clean, well-tested code integrated via Azure DevOps CI/CD.

Key Responsibilities

• Application and Platform Development: Design, build, and maintain intuitive web mapping applications and spatial dashboards using ArcGIS Experience Builder and modern web technologies.
• ETL and Data Migration: Lead and execute complex geospatial data transformation and migration workflows using FME Workbench, Python (ArcPy, GeoPandas, Shapely), and SQL.
• Engineering Standards and Delivery: Write clean, modular, maintainable code backed by automated testing strategies and API documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI).
• Agile Collaboration: Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies, backlog refinement, peer code reviews, and quarterly Program Increment (PI) planning sessions.
• Pipeline Integration and Operations: Work with Azure DevOps pipelines to support CI/CD deployments; monitor application performance, troubleshoot incidents, and contribute to occasional out-of-hours support if required.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Proven track record developing with ArcGIS Experience Builder (custom widgets, themes, and configuration).
• Advanced expertise in FME Workbench / FME Server (Flow) for enterprise-scale spatial ETL and batch data transformations.
• Strong background in geospatial data migration projects (schema mapping, data cleansing, validation, legacy-to-modern platform transitions).
• Strong programming experience in Python applied to spatial analysis and automation.
• High proficiency in SQL (spatial indexing, relational queries, PostGIS, MS SQL, or Oracle Spatial).

Secondary / Working Knowledge

• Practical experience within Azure environments and Azure DevOps (pipelines, repos, work item tracking).
• Experience documenting APIs using Swagger / OpenAPI standards.
• Familiarity with formal test strategies (unit testing, regression testing, automated UI/data tests).
• Understanding of SAFe / Agile delivery concepts, including PI Planning cadence.

£350.00 - £400.00 / day
