Job Description
We’re looking for an experienced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Data Officer to join our GIS Data and Consultancy team. The successful candidate will be part of a small team of GIS Data Officers.
You'll be tasked with helping properties maximise their potential for contributing to the Trust’s ambition to create bigger, better, and more connected landscapes for nature, people, and climate.
What it's like to work here
We’re Europe’s biggest conservation charity and we look after nature, beauty and history for everyone to enjoy. It’s an exciting time at the Trust as we’ve just marked our 130th birthday by unveiling hugely ambitious plans for the next decade and beyond, as we launched our new 10-year strategy, “People and Nature Thriving”.
As a GIS Data and Consultancy Team, we lead on creating organisational value from data; ensuring our enterprise spatial data is trusted, understood, well governed and that we maximise the value from data to deliver our strategy.
Although geographically dispersed, the team are strong on working collaboratively and sharing the load.
Your personal development is important to us and that’s why we encourage all team members to define their personal development to enable you to grow during your time with us.
Your contractual location will be our York Hub and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.
The role may also involve travel to properties or other regional hubs.
What you'll be doing
Working as part of an experienced team of GIS professionals, you will be jointly responsible for managing key ecological datasets. These include habitat survey and intervention data that are used within our critical business systems, underpinning analysis which supports strategic decision making.
You’ll be working to meet client requirements aligned to our strategic priorities.
The role will include a substantial element of technical GIS data editing and maintenance, geospatial problem solving, and producing cartographic outputs.
