Qualifications

Southern Water are going through an immense digital transformation programme and require skilled and talented people to join our supportive and collaborative teams to deliver these transformation initiatives.

The GIS Application Specialist works as part of the GIS Platform Team, supporting the 2,000 GIS users within the company. This team are responsible for providing application support, maintaining existing GIS infrastructure/applications, and engaging with the business to exploit the use of new GIS capability.

Whilst there are defined outcomes associated with the support and maintenance of applications, you will have flexibility on how these can be achieved, also using your experience of different methodologies/technologies to further develop GIS solutions for our stakeholders.

Responsibilities are to include:

  • Management and enhancement of GIS application infrastructure
  • Maintenance of existing GIS applications, identifying areas where business processes can be improved and implementing these improvements
  • Providing support for GIS applications, engaging with vendors as required
  • Gathering business requirements from stakeholders, and developing these into system functionality
  • Working as part of the development team for GIS projects, defining appropriate technologies the direction of the development/application
  • Implementation of new releases of existing business application software; configuring, testing, and integrating as necessary
  • Generation of good quality system documentation, including technical and functional specifications

Skills and experience needed:

  • Proficient in the ESRI product stack:ArcGIS EnterpriseArcGIS WebApp Builder including ArcadeArcGIS Survey123ArcGIS Pro
  • Experience of FME Form and Flow, including Flow administration
  • Use of Python and other programming languages, both standalone and within applications. e.g. FME
  • Experience of Oracle and SQL Server, including SQL
  • Ability to translate business requirements into working solutions
  • Experience in delivering support services in an asset management application space
  • Experience in managing system governance, data along with business engagement for GIS management systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative and supportive
  • Self-motivated and flexible with a proactive attitude
