Manchester City Women is an English football club initially founded by City in the Community in 1988. Relaunched through a formal partnership with Manchester City FC, MCWFC entered the FA Women’s Super League and professionalised in 2014. The team has achieved success in the FAWSL, Women’s FA Cup, and Continental Tyres League Cup, and has competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The team plays at Joie Stadium, a 7,000-capacity arena on the Etihad Campus, which also houses the City Football Academy, a state-of-the-art training facility for all teams.

Our Winning Team

Purpose:

To lead the Goalkeeper coaching of the Youth and Professional Development pathway, focusing on the U14 – EDS age groups, helping players maximize performance and reach their potential.

As lead coach, you will deliver innovative and enjoyable coaching practices across goalkeeping groups and lead a multidisciplinary team to support player and coach development through individual learning plans.

As assistant coach, you will support coaching practices across goalkeeping and outfield sessions, engaging in MDT discussions and individual learning plans.

You will work mainly with older age groups (U14-EDS) and collaborate with coaches of younger groups (U12-EDS) to evolve MCWFC’s methodology, game model, and player development pathway, culminating in integration into the 1st team.

Your Impact

  1. Lead goalkeepers across age groups, motivating and developing them to become MCWFC 1st team players while winning games with attractive football.
  2. Create programs to facilitate smooth transition between age groups in line with the club’s philosophy.
  3. Implement and deliver individual learning plans, understanding development needs across technical, tactical, physical, psychological, and social aspects.
  4. Identify individual skills and tailor coaching interventions to support technical and tactical growth throughout the pathway.
  5. Maintain high behavioral standards and a positive team ethic through cohesion and conflict management.
  6. Work in accordance with FA grassroots and PGA criteria, fostering positive relationships with staff and players’ guardians.
  7. Coordinate with scouting for player selection and talent identification.
  8. Develop tracking methods and dashboards for goalkeeper development.
  9. Contribute to the development of academy and community coaching programs and identify potential future players.
  10. Prepare and deliver age-appropriate classroom sessions using innovative teaching strategies.

What we are looking for

  • Knowledge of technical, tactical, physical, and social development.
  • FA Youth Award and FA Advanced Youth Award.
  • Experience working with elite female youth players in an academy setting.
  • Women’s game coaching experience.
  • Current FA safeguarding certificate.
  • Experience working with children and young people.
  • Knowledge of girl’s and women’s football.
  • Management experience as a Lead Coach (minimum level).
  • Experience within foundation and youth development phases.
  • Experience in an Category I academy structure.
  • Ability to solve tactical problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of football tactics, fitness, and player development.
  • Experience as a technical mastery coach with foundation age players.
  • Experience using Teamworks platform.
  • Understanding of FA PGA and grassroots rules.
  • Experience in teaching and learning environments.
  • Playing experience at Tier 1-2 of English football.
