Relaunched through a partnership with Manchester City FC, MCWFC entered the FA Women’s Super League and professionalised in 2014. UK Youth Lead Scout Purpose:

To provide extensive knowledge of the youth football market within the UK. To be part of a high-performing scouting & recruitment team, implementing long-term talent strategies for Manchester City Women FC Academy. To influence decision-making positively through effective scouting and recruitment. To document, report, and communicate high-potential players internally at MCWFC and externally to the Talent ID lead, age group coaches, and Academy Manager.

Coaching Purpose:

As an assistant coach, support the delivery of innovative and enjoyable coaching practices to maximize player potential. Work primarily with U14-EDS age groups, collaborating with other coaches to evolve MCWFC’s methodology and game model, support player development, and facilitate progression to the first team.

Your Impact

UK Youth Lead Scout Responsibilities:

  • Maintain extensive, documented knowledge of high-potential players at U9-EDS age groups across the UK.
  • Provide comprehensive reports and assessments of these players.
  • Understand and comply with FIFA, FA grassroots, and PGA regulations related to scouting U9-UEDS players.
  • Create and update talent ID strategies and assessments for U9 – EDS age groups.
  • Lead talent ID assessments and depth chart meetings.
  • Document and compile scouting reports and recommendations.

Development Coach Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coaching to motivate and develop players for potential progression to MCWFC’s first team, while winning games and playing attractive football.
  • Develop training sessions and programs to facilitate player transitions between age groups in line with the club’s philosophy.
  • Implement and deliver individual learning plans, focusing on technical, tactical, physical, psychological, and social development.
  • Identify individual skills and tailor coaching accordingly.
  • Work collaboratively with academy staff and communicate effectively with players’ parents or guardians.

What We Are Looking For

  • UEFA B or A Licence qualification
  • Knowledge of technical, tactical, physical, and social development

  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle
  • Level 2 Talent ID certificate
  • Passion for youth recruitment and talent identification
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Management experience at U9 – U16 level (minimum)
  • Experience in girls’ or boys’ youth development and elite youth scouting
  • Proven success in delivering sporting programs
  • Previous management experience with problem anticipation and solutions
