Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced Senior Solutions Architect to join the Global Financial Services (GFS) team in London. You will design scalable, secure cloud architectures and partner with AWS Sales to accelerate adoption among large financial institutions across EMEA.

You will act as a trusted technical advisor to executives, guiding cloud migration, cloud-native development, and AI adoption while contributing to the SA community through mentorship and thought leadership.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced and technically deep Senior Solutions Architect to join our Global Financial Services (GFS) team. In this role, you will partner with some of the world's largest banking, insurance, and capital markets companies, alongside AWS Sales and cross-functional teams, to design highly scalable, resilient, and secure cloud architectures that solve real business problems and accelerate AWS adoption.

You will serve as a trusted technical advisor to senior customer stakeholders, helping organizations understand best practices for cloud migration, cloud-native development, and AI adoption. You will also contribute to the broader SA community through mentorship, reusable content, and thought leadership.

Key job responsibilities

• Partner with customers to architect, build, and migrate applications, software, and services on the AWS platform
• Work with sales teams to develop and execute strategies that drive AWS adoption and exceed revenue objectives
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior technical leaders at Financial Services customers, influencing their long-term technology strategy
• Lead architectural discussions and design reviews, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, cost-optimized, and operationally excellent
• Develop and contribute reusable reference architectures, patterns, and best-practice content for the SA community
• Mentor and develop fellow Solutions Architects, actively contributing to team capability growth
• Act as a Financial Services thought leader through public speaking, written content, and industry engagement on cloud and AI adoption
• Conduct training sessions (one-to-few and one-to-many) to transfer knowledge to customers evaluating or already using AWS
• Provide structured feedback to AWS service and product teams based on customer needs and gaps identified in the field
• Contribute to organizational strategic planning, recruiting, and the development of team-wide initiatives

A day in the life

As a Solutions Architect at AWS, you help customers become more competitive, secure, and sustainable. You are part of an account team of business, sales, consulting, and support professionals, and your mission is to be the customer's trusted technology advisor. You work at every level of the organization, including executive leadership. You analyze customer needs and opportunities, and you guide customers toward the best use of cloud technologies.

You don't stop at advice. Where it makes sense, you build alongside the customer's engineering teams in short, well-scoped cycles to prove the value of the solution. You bring customer feedback back to AWS teams so it shapes our plans. You also share what you learn with colleagues around the world and take an active part in the public AWS community.

You will be at the center of the AI revolution. You will design the cloud architectures that let our customers put the latest generative and agentic AI innovations to work, and you will help leading financial services institutions across EMEA get the most out of AI in their business. You will build deep expertise, create reference architectures and solutions, and play a key role in your customers' digital transformation.

About the team

The Global Financial Services team works with a select group of the world's largest banking, insurance, and capital markets customers. These customers lead the industry in cloud adoption, through large-scale migrations and cloud-native innovation. What we achieve here shapes how financial services adopt the cloud worldwide.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience within specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
• Experience in design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures
• Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients
• 10+ years of experience in IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking
• Experience working with end user or developer communities
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or experience in a professional field or military
