Job summary

The Gesh Director of Midwifery (GDoM) is the most senior midwife across the Group, reporting directly to the Group Chief Nursing Officer (GCNO). They will act as the nominated Deputy for midwifery matters, providing professional advice to the Group Board of Executives, GCNO, Hospital Leadership teams, and are accountable for maintaining quality standards within maternity services. The role ensures high-quality, flexible, responsive, compassionate, and safe care, meeting regulatory requirements.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will advise the GCNO and CEO, Hospital Executive teams, and the Trust Board on all midwifery aspects, including:

  1. Maternity vision and strategy - Quality Improvement and Transformational plans
  2. HR, workforce, equality, training, and development
  3. Quality, safety, and governance
  4. Patient experience - collaboration with Maternity Voices Partnership
  5. Midwifery and professional standards
  6. CQC regulation and compliance
  7. Adherence to national guidance
  8. Safeguarding

The post holder will collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver safety, quality, performance, and governance plans, demonstrating strong leadership and managerial skills.
