Salary: £28.62 - £37.08 per hour

Hours per week: 6-8 hours

Working pattern: weekday evenings only

Location: Abingdon Campus

Contract type: Fixed term – 1 year until Sep 2026

Oxfordshire Adult Learning (OAL), part of Abingdon & Witney College, is inviting applications for talented and enthusiastic German language teachers to join our extraordinary team of Hourly Paid Lecturers.

OAL is a large, award-winning faculty committed to widening participation and transforming the health, social, and economic wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities across Oxfordshire. Our diverse provision includes leisure learning, community learning, family learning, and accredited courses leading to recognised qualifications. Courses are delivered at our campuses in Abingdon and Witney, as well as in community venues throughout the county.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging German language courses for adult learners.
  • Create inclusive and accessible learning environments.
  • Monitor and record learner progress throughout the course.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the curriculum and learner experience.
Essential Experience
  • Fluency in German and strong subject knowledge.
  • Experience teaching German to adults or in a further education setting.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to diverse learner needs.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and lifelong learning.
Desirable Experience
  • Teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent).
  • Experience working in community education or adult learning environments.
  • Familiarity with accredited language qualifications and assessment methods.
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
