Job summary

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is seeking a substantive consultant in Geriatric Medicine to join the expanding East area team based at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The post aims to strengthen general geriatrics and rehabilitation services.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team, provide consultant-led care for outpatient and inpatient cases, participate in on-call duties, and contribute to teaching and mentorship of junior doctors and students.

Qualifications

• Full GMC Specialist Registration in Geriatrics or due to obtain CCT within 6 months of interview date. CESR applicants must have GMC Specialist Registration at the point of application
• MB BS or equivalent.
• MRCP (UK) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a consultant-led Geriatric Medicine service at Wrexham Maelor Hospital for the diagnosis and management of both outpatients and inpatients.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals and managers to develop Care of the Elderly services.
• Participate in the general medical on-call rota and post-take ward rounds, providing leadership to the on-call medical team.
• Take consultant responsibility for allocated inpatients, with support from a designated team of junior doctors.
• Contribute to the teaching and training of junior doctors and medical students.
