Job Description:

Geotechnical Manager – Offshore Wind

The Geotechnical Manager will:

  • Examine geotechnical risks and establish parameters for the design of offshore wind structures.
  • Perform complex conceptual examinations of foundation installation and identify & quantify risks.
  • Provide key commercial support regarding contract allocation, management, and deliverables.
Main Accountabilities
  • Initiate, define, and execute soil investigation campaigns.
  • Manage requests for proposals, assess offers, and select preferred subcontractors for soil condition measurements, ensuring budget compliance and collaboration with the commercial team.
  • Coordinate with the Balance of Plant Manager to ensure soil investigations meet substructure design and certification needs.
  • Analyze geophysical and geotechnical studies for the project.
  • Support wind turbine and floater selection activities, engaging with substructure contractors such as mooring and anchoring system suppliers.
  • Participate in engineering and design due diligence, monitoring work by soil assessment advisors during processes like energy auctions or project financial close.
  • Prepare Site Conditions Reports in collaboration with the Wind and Metocean Assessment Manager for the Basis of Design.
  • Supervise and coordinate work with technical contractors supporting soil investigations across markets.
  • Write reports, applications, and memos with varying technical content for project development activities.
Requirements
  • Strong geotechnical engineering background related to fixed subsea and anchor substructures.
  • Experience in offshore wind project development, especially in early stages.
  • Experience working in diverse consortia and multicultural environments is advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and accessibly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with design software and databases is a plus.
  • Exceptional written communication and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the UK.
