Job description

We are working with a specialist, family-run ground investigation and geo-environmental consultancy based in Exeter. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit team that provides a holistic approach to site investigations, covering both geotechnical and geo-environmental disciplines. With a reputation for delivering high-quality solutions across a range of projects, they offer a supportive environment where engineers gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle.

This role is ideal for an engineer with around 3 years of experience, ready to take on both site supervision and office-based reporting responsibilities. The successful candidate will be involved in the planning, execution, and analysis of ground investigation projects, working closely with senior engineers and clients. Site work will include supervising investigations and ensuring best practices, while office-based tasks will focus on data interpretation, report writing, and liaising with stakeholders. The company encourages a balance between on-site, office, and home-based working, tailoring arrangements to suit individual preferences and project needs.

Key Requirements:

  • Around 3 years of experience in geotechnical and/or geo-environmental engineering
  • Comfortable with on-site supervision of ground investigations
  • Experience with report writing, data analysis, and project management elements
  • Interest in both geotechnical and geo-environmental aspects, with room to specialise over time
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Full right to live and work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing, highly respected consultancy where you will be supported in your career development while working on a diverse range of projects. In addition to a competitive salary (£28,000 - £35,000 DOE), the company offers flexibility in working arrangements, professional development opportunities, and a collaborative team environment.
