Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist
Our client is one of the largest multidisciplinary partnerships in the UK, providing engineering and design consultancy services with innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions for challenging environments. Due to an increasing workload, they are currently looking to appoint an experienced Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist within the Edinburgh Team.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects spanning renewables, transportation, industrial, retail, residential, and commercial sectors.
Responsibilities
- Data collection, manipulation, and interpretation of geotechnical and geo-chemical data for site investigations across various schemes.
- Preparation of Geotechnical Desk Studies, Interpretative Reports, and Specifications.
- Design, procurement, and supervision of site investigations.
- Undertake geotechnical analysis and design, including slope stability, settlement assessments, foundations, and retaining wall design.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Provide technical oversight and manage junior team members.
- Preparation of fee proposals and contributions to tenders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology.
- Experience in designing, specifying, and managing ground investigation works.
- Proven experience in geotechnical design to UK Eurocodes within multidisciplinary projects.
- Experience in shallow and deep foundation design, piling, earthworks, slope stability, and retaining walls.
- Preparation of geotechnical reports, including desk studies, ground investigation, and geotechnical design reports.
- Ability to prepare specifications and drawings for construction.
- Experience with geotechnical design software, such as OASYS suite or equivalent.
- Experience in preparing fee estimates and tender submissions.
- Mentoring and training junior staff.
