Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist

Our client is one of the largest multidisciplinary partnerships in the UK, providing engineering and design consultancy services with innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions for challenging environments. Due to an increasing workload, they are currently looking to appoint an experienced Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist within the Edinburgh Team.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects spanning renewables, transportation, industrial, retail, residential, and commercial sectors.

Responsibilities

  1. Data collection, manipulation, and interpretation of geotechnical and geo-chemical data for site investigations across various schemes.
  2. Preparation of Geotechnical Desk Studies, Interpretative Reports, and Specifications.
  3. Design, procurement, and supervision of site investigations.
  4. Undertake geotechnical analysis and design, including slope stability, settlement assessments, foundations, and retaining wall design.
  5. Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  6. Provide technical oversight and manage junior team members.
  7. Preparation of fee proposals and contributions to tenders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology.
  • Experience in designing, specifying, and managing ground investigation works.
  • Proven experience in geotechnical design to UK Eurocodes within multidisciplinary projects.
  • Experience in shallow and deep foundation design, piling, earthworks, slope stability, and retaining walls.
  • Preparation of geotechnical reports, including desk studies, ground investigation, and geotechnical design reports.
  • Ability to prepare specifications and drawings for construction.
  • Experience with geotechnical design software, such as OASYS suite or equivalent.
  • Experience in preparing fee estimates and tender submissions.
  • Mentoring and training junior staff.
