Geotechnical Engineer - Belfast - HAYS Specialist Recruitment

Your new company, in partnership with a Northern Ireland Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy, is seeking to hire a Geotechnical Engineer. The company delivers innovative and sustainable engineering solutions across various sectors.

With over 60 years of experience, they offer expertise in civil, structural, water, wastewater, traffic engineering, and other specialized advice.

Fully accredited with Quality Assurance Scheme (BS EN ISO 9001:2015), Environmental Management System (BS EN ISO), and Occupational Health and Safety Systems Specification (ISO), they are a leading employer in the Northern Ireland market.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct desktop studies and site walkover surveys.
• Manage and oversee ground investigation work, from procurement to reporting.
• Prepare contract documents, including specifications, Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and testing requirements for site investigations.
• Review factual reports from site investigations and produce interpretive reports.
• Coordinate with design teams on geotechnical design, offering options for ground improvement techniques and foundation strategies.
• Design temporary structures for deep excavations.
• Supervise technicians in creating detailed scheme drawings.
• Participate in design team meetings and client consultations.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Geoinformatics, or Geology Engineering.
• Relevant experience in Geotechnical Engineering, with good technical knowledge and proficiency in geotechnical analysis and design software.
• An awareness of recent developments in engineering design and research.
