This full-time, permanent role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across the UK, spanning sectors such as energy, infrastructure, renewable energy, development, regeneration, and local authorities. Based in Sheffield, you will collaborate with colleagues across multiple offices, contributing to impactful projects that shape the future of our environment and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

As a Geo-Environmental Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in conducting project investigations, with a strong emphasis on site-based work. Your responsibilities will include undertaking Preliminary Risk Assessments (Phase 1 Desk Studies) and intrusive site investigations, managing fieldwork activities such as drilling, excavation, and monitoring, and supervising remediation and earthworks projects. You will also liaise with contractors, prepare health and safety documentation, schedule laboratory testing, and produce both factual and interpretative reports. Additionally, you will support project managers in planning new projects and preparing fee proposals.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should hold a BSc degree in Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. You will have 3-5 years of relevant work experience, including supervising site investigations and managing subcontractors. Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. Knowledge of Openground logging software and rock core logging capabilities are advantageous but not mandatory. A proactive approach to professional development and a full manual UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle are also required.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with a range of benefits designed to support your professional and personal well-being. These include a contributory pension scheme, free life assurance cover, and an employee discount scheme. You will have access to a flexible benefits programme, including options to buy additional holidays, EV salary sacrifice and cycle-to-work schemes, and private healthcare. We are committed to your professional growth, providing support for continued development, payment of professional membership fees, and a clear pathway to professional qualification.
