Geotechnical Engineer

We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Strata team at Van Elle. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to develop professionally within our company.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist technical leads on major frameworks, including Rail infrastructure, Highways, and Coal Authority projects.
2. Conduct basic contaminated land assessments and recommend site remediation strategies following best practices and technical guidance.
3. Plan, execute, and report on Phase 1 and Phase 2 Geo-Environmental and Geotechnical investigations.
4. Deliver geotechnical projects and reports, with knowledge of UK design codes such as EC7 Part 1 and relevant standards.
5. Coordinate with clients, schedule laboratory testing, log soil and rock samples, and perform soil and groundwater risk assessments.
6. Participate in on-site investigations, analyze data, produce and review technical reports, and manage projects to meet KPIs and deadlines.
7. Collaborate with clients, engineers, and technicians to produce accurate factual and interpretative reports.
8. Uphold Van Elle’s values and adhere to company policies and procedures.
9. Perform additional tasks as reasonably required.

Candidate Profile:

1. Experience with Ground Investigation Data Management software such as OpenGround, Holebase, or GINT.
2. Degree in Geology, Geotechnics, Environmental Science, or a related field; working towards chartered status is desirable.
3. Experience managing medium and small ground investigation projects.
4. Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships.
5. Knowledge of soil geotechnical properties, investigation techniques, sampling, and laboratory testing.
6. Attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Effective communication with management and other departments.

Additional Requirements:

1. Eligibility to work and reside in the UK.
2. Willingness to travel within the UK.
3. Valid UK driving license.
