Our client is a reputable engineering company who provide services and technical advice to a range of private and public companies, and they are seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer (Design) to join their dynamic team in Birmingham.
This role requires an individual with strong technical expertise in geotechnical design and engineering principles, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to work independently. You'll be involved in high-impact projects, ensuring structural stability and optimizing geotechnical solutions. A track-record in rail projects is a distinct advantage.
Responsibilities
Apply detailed knowledge of Eurocodes and engineering codes of practice in design processes.
Utilize industry-standard software such as Slope/W, WALLAP, REPUTE, TEDDS, AutoCAD, and Excel.
Conduct geotechnical design analysis for earthworks, foundations, and drainage systems.
Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and designers' risk assessments.
Interpret ground investigation results and recommend effective solutions.
Assess defects and instability in earthworks, retaining walls, and drainage systems.
Engage in client liaison and attend design review meetings to ensure project success.
Manage deadlines efficiently, demonstrating excellent planning and organizational skills.
Work independently while maintaining high standards of technical report writing.
Requirements
Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
2 - 5 years of revlevant industry background
A strong technical background in geotechnical engineering.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Proven track record in analytical/geotechnical design.
A proactive and methodical approach to problem-solving.
A rail sector background is highly desirable.
