A leading civil engineering joint venture is looking for a Geotechnical Design Manager to oversee geotechnical projects related to high-speed rail construction in the Brackley area. The role involves ensuring technical quality, stakeholder management, and collaboration on various construction challenges. Candidates should possess robust experience in geotechnical design methodologies and be committed to delivering efficient solutions.
About The Role
EKFB is a joint venture that brings together international, market-leading expertise from four leading civil engineering and construction companies: Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction, and BAM Nuttall. All four partners have specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing, and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe’s latest high-speed rail projects.
We are looking for a Geotechnical Design Manager to join our Twyford to Greatworth (T2G) team based in the Brackley area.
In this role, you will be responsible for the geotechnical scope for a large number of primary and secondary assets, including Earthworks, Transitions, Cut and Cover Tunnels, bridges, and others.
You will be responsible for ensuring technical quality and providing support on topics such as slope stabilization, heave, settlements, soil nails, counterforts, excavation and replacement, and other mitigation measures related to geotechnical construction issues.
As a Geotechnical Design Manager, you will attend weekly CTC meetings, TAA meetings, and chair meetings for geotechnical issues such as Geohazards identified during construction. You will also support the client in identifying changes, risks, and opportunities, always striving for efficiencies and cost savings.
Another key responsibility is reviewing construction stage GI and Surveys, supporting optimization studies, and liaising with commercial, planning, design delivery teams, and designers.
You will establish close working relationships with agents, engineers, and supervisory staff, supporting coordination with Construction Section Leads on geotechnical issues and GBR items.
You will provide technical input and support for commercial communications (SNCs, NCRs, CEs, Departures, etc.) and liaise closely with Engineering Managers to ensure timely, optimized delivery in accordance with client requirements.
Additionally, you will aim to close out technical debt within your area of responsibility, review monitoring reports, geo-certificates, GRR, and GFR, and support technical assurance during TLC5 and handover processes.
