Job summary

A civil engineering firm in the UK is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Design Engineer to lead design on major projects. You'll be responsible for producing detailed designs, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates are Chartered Engineers with a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and experience in design solutions for infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

Job description

We're looking for a skilled and motivated Geotechnical Design Engineer to lead the development of both temporary and permanent works on major civil engineering projects. This role offers a great mix of hands–on design, technical leadership, and team collaboration.

You'll work across tenders and live projects, producing practical and innovative solutions involving shoring, foundations, ground stability, and structural systems. You'll also play a key part in reviewing designs, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring quality, safety, and compliance.

What you'll be doing:

  • Producing and checking detailed civil and structural designs

  • Overseeing ground assessments and temporary works proposals

  • Collaborating with clients, consultants, and internal teams

  • Managing documentation to meet CDM, QHSE, and ISO standards

What we're looking for:

  • Chartered Engineer
