Position: Geotechnical Asset Protection Engineer

Rate: £375 Inside IR35

Location: Manchester

Duration: 12 months

Start date: ASAP

Working Arrangements: Hybrid

People Group is looking to recruit Geotechnical ASPRO Engineers from a Network Rail background to work for a leading rail consultancy.

Responsibilities:
  1. Undertake reviews of design and construction activities, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
  2. Conduct on-site engineering verifications where required and directed by the Senior Asset Protection Engineer.
  3. Lead the discipline engineering consultation between the project team, client/customer, designer/contractor, and Route Engineers throughout the design development and construction stages.
  4. Respond via NR/L2/RSE/02009/F0044 DRN process with acceptance or rejection of submissions within 20 working days. Clearly communicate areas of failure/rejection to the client/designer. Re-review when design submissions are returned with DRN closed out.
  5. Input/guidance into NR/L2/CIV/191/05 Managing the risk from Mining in design and construction.
  6. Attend relevant project meetings and workshops, including progress meetings, CRE meetings, IDC/IDRs.
  7. Provide technical input at enquiry/initial meetings with customers when specialist discipline requirements are needed.
  8. Review and comment on initial design proposals at meetings with the customer/client.
Requirements:
  • BEng/BSc or equivalent/higher qualification in Building, Building Services, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
  • Experience working client-side within the rail sector.
  • Experience working on a geotechnical project as a Project Engineer.
