Pertemps in Tyne and Wear is recruiting a Geospatial Apprenticeship Trainer to deliver training for the Level 3 Geospatial Survey Technician Apprenticeship, working with learners and employers to build essential skills for EPA success.

This role suits experienced surveying professionals moving into training; it offers remote and face-to-face delivery and funded teaching qualifications, plus regional travel where needed.

Qualifications

  • Industry experience within Land Surveying, Engineering Surveying, Geospatial Data Collection or Geomatics.
  • Experience using surveying equipment such as GNSS, Total Stations and laser scanners.
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS software.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality training both remotely and face-to-face.
  • Teach surveying principles, mapping, geospatial data collection and spatial data interpretation.
  • Manage a caseload of apprentices and monitor their progress.
  • Prepare learners for End Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Maintain learner records and ensure funding compliance.
  • Stay up to date with developments in surveying and geospatial technology.

Geospatial Apprenticeship Trainer

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum
Location: Tyne and Wear (with regional travel)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Are you an experienced Surveyor, Geospatial Technician, GIS Professional or Engineering Surveyor looking to take the next step in your career?

We are seeking a Geospatial Apprenticeship Trainer to support and develop the next generation of Geospatial Survey Technicians. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with industry experience who is passionate about sharing their knowledge and helping others succeed.

Whether you already have teaching experience or are looking to move into training for the first time, full support will be provided to help you develop your training and assessment skills.

The Role

As a Geospatial Apprenticeship Trainer, you will deliver engaging training and support apprentices working towards the Level 3 Geospatial Survey Technician Apprenticeship.

You will work closely with learners and employers to ensure apprentices develop the technical knowledge, practical skills and behaviours required to succeed within the industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality training both remotely and face-to-face.
  • Teach subjects including surveying principles, mapping, geospatial data collection and spatial data interpretation.
  • Support learners in the use of GNSS, Total Stations, laser scanners and other surveying equipment.
  • Deliver training on AutoCAD, GIS software and geospatial data processing.
  • Manage a caseload of apprentices and monitor their progress.
  • Conduct regular learner reviews with employers.
  • Provide guidance and feedback on assignments, portfolios and workplace activities.
  • Prepare learners for End Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Promote Maths, English, safeguarding and professional standards throughout delivery.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and ensure compliance with quality and funding requirements.
  • Stay up to date with developments in surveying and geospatial technology.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Industry experience within Land Surveying, Engineering Surveying, Geospatial Data Collection, Geomatics or a related field.
  • Experience using surveying equipment such as GNSS, Total Stations and laser scanners.
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS software.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to coach, mentor or support others in their development.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
  • Previous training, teaching, coaching or assessing experience.
  • Experience working with apprentices.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, DTLLS, Cert Ed or equivalent).
  • An assessor qualification such as TAQA, CAVA or A1.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship delivery and End Point Assessment.
  • Membership of a professional body such as RICS or CICES.
