Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for product, profit, and people? At George, we’re looking for a dynamic Merchandiser to lead a clothing department, driving commercial success through smart planning, inspiring leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. This role is a 12-month maternity cover opportunity.

As a Merchandiser, you’ll be responsible for planning and trading departmental sales and markdown budgets, managing stock levels, and delivering a balanced, timely, and commercial range. You’ll play a key role in driving profit ahead of sales, while mentoring and developing a high-performing team of Junior and Assistant Merchandisers.

Your Role

  • Develop and execute a robust financial strategy including profit, sales, margin, and promotional planning.
  • Partner with Buying and Design to shape the seasonal strategy, ensuring key looks and high-ranking lines are prioritised.
  • Own departmental stock management, capacity planning, and supplier strategy.
  • Lead event sign-offs and ensure alignment across the George business.
  • Forecast markdown risks, manage OTB, and identify stock opportunities.
  • Inspire and develop your team through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and clear development plans.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture across the department.

"Let's find out about you?"

  • Proven experience in merchandising, ideally within fashion or retail.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering profit growth.
  • Excellent leadership and team development skills.
  • Confident working cross-functionally and influencing at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
