Overview

Grampian Geotechnical (Scotland) Ltd group is an established provider of geotechnical and environmental engineering services across the UK. The company delivers services to residential, retail and commercial property developers, estate owners and funders, manufacturers and industrial process operators, civil/structural engineers, local authorities and regulatory agencies relying on geotechnical engineering, ground contamination appraisal, remediation services, environmental due diligence, auditing and related services.

We are looking to recruit a Geologist / Geo-environmental Engineer to join our busy team, which includes geotechnical engineers, environmental scientists and geologists. This is a full-time role (45 hours) based in our Aberdeen office, with travel across Scotland to undertake site work. Applications from recent graduates will also be considered.

The role covers environmental due diligence reviews, ground engineering activities including preliminary risk assessments, ground investigations, geotechnical assessments, ground contamination appraisals, remedial options appraisals, remediation strategies and associated validation works. There will be opportunities to learn new skills and progress within the company, which is committed to professional development through in-house and external training leading to professional qualifications.

Responsibilities
  • Good communication to liaise with other project staff and clients to deliver projects effectively.
  • Supervise, manage and complete intrusive ground investigations using techniques such as sonic, rotary, cable percussion and window sampling boreholes, geophysics, trial pits and other methods.
  • Soil and rock logging to current geotechnical standards, including laboratory scheduling.
  • Collate geotechnical data using industry software and prepare reports for external clients within internal protocols.
Person Specification / Qualifications
  • More experienced applicants must demonstrate a sound understanding of the UK site investigation industry and applicable standards.
  • BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Earth Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Environmental Geoscience or a related environmental subject is essential.
  • A desire to contribute as a key member of the local and national team of engineers by delivering excellent work.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential.
  • Desirable but not essential: additional abilities related to the role.
