Qualified Geography Teacher - flexible hours - flexible on either Temporary or Permanent

Your new company
Hays are working in partnership with a local secondary school who are seeking a Qualified Geography Teacher on a temporary to permanent basis. They are ideally looking for someone who ispassionate about shaping the future of young minds and leading a dynamic team. This could lead to a role in September as the Head of Geography on a permanent basis with flexible hours. This role offers the unique opportunity to inspire students, drive curriculum innovation, and support staff development while enjoying the flexibility to balance your professional and personal life.

Your new role

As a Geography Teacher, your role will involve:

  • Manage and conduct appropriate monitoring and evaluation procedures, including lesson observations, to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Maintain a positive climate for learning based on high expectations of students and their potential.
  • Take appropriate steps to support staff in developing their teaching practice, including the organisation and delivery of appropriate training, advice and coaching activities.
  • Ensure that marking and assessment procedures are followed consistently by all members of the team, in line with school and department policy, including the application of assessment for learning processes and techniques.
  • Plan and review schemes of work which incorporate all statutory requirements and which demonstrate the use of appropriate and varied teaching and learning strategies.
  • Ensure that the needs of all students are known and met effectively, including students with learning and behavioural needs.
  • Be flexible, creative and adept at designing learning sequences within lessons and across lessons that are effective and consistently well-matched to learning objectives and the needs of learners and which integrate recent developments, including those relating to subject/curriculum knowledge.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered for this role, you will need demonstrable experience in the following areas:
  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Degree in relevant subject area.
  • A good/outstanding teacher with excellent subject knowledge and an ability to use a range of teaching learning strategies effectively.
  • A good understanding of curriculum developments in the specific subject area.
  • A confident & competent user of ICT.
  • Able to use student-level data to raise standards.
  • Able to communicate both orally and in writing to students, their parents and the wider community.
  • Ability to teach KS5 desirable
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.
  • A willingness to take on or try new approaches & ideas.
  • A positive attitude towards professional development and their own learning.
