Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is helping a thriving secondary school in Taunton, Somerset, recruit a Geography Teacher for a full-time, permanent role starting January 2027. You will inspire students to explore global challenges and deepen their understanding of the world.

The ideal candidate will hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification and a Geography degree, with secondary teaching experience including GCSE Geography.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate teaching qualification.
• A degree in Geography or a related subject.
• Secondary school teaching experience, ideally including GCSE Geography.
• Strong subject knowledge with ability to make geographical concepts engaging.
• Effective classroom management and clear communication skills.
• Ability to motivate students and support diverse learning needs.
• Commitment to high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Geography lessons that spark curiosity and independent thinking.
• Teach a broad range of topics: physical & human geography, climate change, urban environments, development, global issues.
• Prepare students for GCSE examinations and monitor academic progress.
• Develop students’ map-reading, data interpretation, and geographical enquiry skills.
• Create an inclusive classroom where students feel confident to question and discuss perspectives.
• Assess progress and provide constructive feedback to help each student reach potential.
• Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental development and wider school activities.
• Promote fieldwork, geographical investigation and real-world environmental challenges.
