About the Role

Outwood Academy Redcar seeks applications from outstanding applicants with integrity, imagination and energy for this rewarding role as Teacher of Geography. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, driven professional to join our Family of Schools. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject is essential. Applications are invited from both newly qualified and experienced professionals.

Our Geography curriculum at KS3 is unique and engaging with 2 hours per week in Years 7, 8 and 9. We aim to create topics that not only meet the National Curriculum but go beyond and that are relevant to the students and the world they live in. We study at a local, national and international level, with topics as diverse as: Why is our World Amazing?; What makes Asia a continent of contrasts?; How has industry forged the heart of Teesside? We are currently increasing the amount of GIS at KS3 and post-Covid, we have big plans for KS3 fieldwork to increase the opportunities available to our students. Geography is a popular optional subject at GCSE where we follow AQA. The units we cover are Paper 1: Natural Hazards, Living World (Hot Deserts), Coasts and Rivers; Paper 2: Urban, Economic Change; Resource Management and Water; Paper 3: Pre-Release and Fieldwork.
