Are you a passionate and knowledgeable Geography Teacher eager to inspire the next generation of learners?

GSL Education are recruiting for a committed Geography Teacher to join a thriving mainstream secondary school in Portsmouth, Hampshire, from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary of £30,000 – £50,000 per annum, depending on experience. The role is open to applicants with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Early Career Teachers (ECTs), and suitably qualified overseas-trained teachers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver engaging Geography lessons, instil a love for the subject, and support students in developing an understanding of the world around them.

Key Responsibilities of a Geography Teacher:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Geography lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach across Key Stages, ensuring lessons are accessible and challenging for all learners
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing effective feedback and support
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters curiosity and critical thinking
  • Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Humanities department and across the wider school
  • Contribute to extracurricular and enrichment opportunities, such as field trips and clubs
  • Stay up to date with curriculum developments and best practices in teaching Geography

Teacher of Geography Skills & Requirements:

  • QTS, ECT, or overseas trained-qualified teacher status
  • A degree in Geography or a closely related subject
  • Experience working as a Geography Teacher in secondary schools.
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for teaching Geography
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and student welfare
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
