Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, well-qualified Specialist Geography Teacher to join our dedicated and high-performing Humanities department. The successful candidate will have a passion for Geography and a commitment to high academic standards, while supporting the Catholic ethos of the school.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and challenging Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and Key Stage 5, if applicable).

  • Plan and teach lessons that inspire curiosity about the world and develop critical thinking and geographical skills.

  • Assess, monitor, and report on students' progress effectively, ensuring all pupils are supported to achieve their full potential.

  • Contribute to the development and enrichment of the Geography curriculum in line with current pedagogy and subject knowledge.

  • Promote a love of Geography through extra-curricular activities, trips, and fieldwork opportunities.

  • Uphold the Catholic values of the school and contribute to its faith life and wider community.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support whole-school initiatives and student wellbeing.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
  • A degree in Geography or a closely related field.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.

  • A strong understanding of the Geography curriculum and current teaching methods.

  • A commitment to inclusive education and differentiated teaching.

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

  • A willingness to support and uphold the Catholic ethos of the school.

Desirable:
  • Experience teaching A-Level Geography.

  • Experience working in a faith-based or values-driven educational setting.

  • Willingness to contribute to the spiritual and pastoral life of the school.

  • Familiarity with Catholic Social Teaching and how it relates to global citizenship and sustainability.
